Why does writing down our goals, having positive thoughts, work wonders?

1. Our life is like a giant puzzle picture that had already been created by God when he created the universe. This picture of the universe is so big that it’s impossible for a person to finish putting all the pieces together in their lifetime, it take generations and like the universe, it’s infinite, it will never end.
2. Our life each day is about adding and building on the pieces of this puzzle to complete as much of the pictures as we can.
3. We must remember that because this picture had already been created. What we are doing each day is not creating a new picture, rather, only connecting the pieces needed to complete as much of this puzzle as we can.
4. And because of this EVERYthing that happens in our life, our day, happened exactly as planned. it’s simply a piece of the puzzle
5. Now imagine we’re builing the part of the universe called earth, a world map puzzle. there are bright part of the picture and there are dark part of the picture. the bright part represents good things that happen to us. and dark part represents bad things
for example, the sky versus the ground
6. As we go through our life, it’s in our best interest to build on as many of the bright pieces as possible and continue that because our kids and grand kids will continue to build on what we have started
7. But we must understand that it’s natural and is necessary for us to also build on the dark pieces inorder for us to continue to build on the bright pieces. for example, as we build the top of the tree, and move further down, we’ll start to run into the shadows of the tree and even the soil that the tree stands on… it’s natural that we run into problems and challenges in our life regardless how much we want to only build on only the good stuff.
8. But because of this, we always know that the next bright piece is just in a few more steps and then we can continue to build on more bright stuff
9. What happens to some people though, is that instead of building up toward teh sky for more bright pieces, is that they dwell on and get stuck in building more of the earthly stuff like the ground and then build deeper and further down into the ground … so their miseries seems to never end
10. And just like building a real puzzle, we continue to look for the pieces that can fit into the area that we are currently building. for example, if you’re building a ground piece and you saw a cloud, you would mostly like to dismiss it and keep looking for more ground pieces
11. Those clouds and other bright pieces represents opportunities and pass us by and we hardly notice it because we’re too busy continuing where we are.
12. So how can we get out of a rut? simply look for brighter pieces on which to build on. start building upward toward the sky where there are lots of light pieces… and it’s okay if we get to part of the sky where it’s rainy and cloudy, it will soon pass and we get to the next part where it’s sunny again. or get to the next tree top and not the shallows
13. So to bring this into reality and our everyday practice, we must constantly ask ourselves, which pieces am i building more of
14. for example, i started to using as a new anchor for how I myself and my wife acts and response to things … like yesterday when my wife was in a bad mood because Austen wouldn’t eat and was screaming, i started say, “build more happy pieces. build more happy pieces”
“build more light pieces” and it made her smile and broke out of her pattern of building on to the darker pieces. I also did this to myself a lot this weekend. the minute i caught myself building on the darker pieces, i immediately say to myself to build more bright pieces
15. And now it brings so much more clarity and hope to my life because life is no longer a mystery. The picture is already there. i’m just doing my job to build on that picture. so if i want to see more good things, i’ll build on more light pieces and if i want more bad things i’ll build on more dark pieces.
16. So, if we want to build on more wealth, health, happiness, peace, we just need just build on more of those pieces
17. Now, so why does writing down our goals, having possitive thoughts, work wonders? it’s because each of those acts work as a building piece to get you to your next part of the picture think of them as a bridge or a connector to the next picture … if you think of 2 mansions, there are spaces in between them because of the huge amount of land, well, the acting of writing down goals and having possitive thoughts is to fill in those spaces so that you can move on to your next mansion (perhaps for your mother-in-law) ![]()
18. So whenever you think of things, perhaps a goal that seems out of reach, don’t ignore it. pick up that piece and just put it somewhere that you think it might belong in. by putting that piece somewhere on your picture, your mind will begin to look for other pieces that will connect between where you’re currently building to where that piece is… if you play puzzle, you’d understand this part well
